Active since March of 2015, Incorporated May of 2020
The organization was originally founded to assist underserved refugee families with assimilation, translation services, career advising, and financial assistance with an emphasis on the mental and physical well-being of refugee children. Our organization has evolved in response to changing needs.
While other organizations now offer similar services, we have shifted our focus to providing individualized holistic support - including therapy, financial aid, guidance, networking - to socio-economically disadvantaged Afghans. Our goal is to empower them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential without undue hardship.
Tax Exempt Status
We encourage tax-deductible contributions to support our programs and initiatives. Afghan-American Community of Tampa is a registered 501(c)(3) organization, and all monetary donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donors can deduct contributions under IRC Section 170. We may also receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, and 2522. Please consult with your tax advisor for details on how this may apply to your situation.
Our organization is supported by three directors and a team of dedicated volunteers who consistently contribute their time and effort to assist the community.
President/Founder
I was inspired to start the organization after hearing about the needs of Afghan refugees while volunteering at a free clinic in Tampa. I came to pursue medicine by earning my master’s in Interdisciplinary Medical Science, years after completing my Electrical Engineering degree from UCSD. Transitioning to a new career was challenging; the love and support of the community eased the stress. Motivated by this encouragement, I completed my Doctorate in Medicine at the Morsani College of Medicine. I am deeply grateful and committed to giving back to the community that has enriched my life.
Director
I joined the Afghan-American Community of Tampa after meeting Dr. Siddique in 2013. I was eager to give back to a community that has always embraced me. I have four years of business management experience with an intent to pursue my MBA. I hold a BBA in Project Management from Southern New Hampshire University, where I earned a place on the Honor Roll. Fluent in seven languages, I cherish connections made through English, Farsi, and Pashto, helping bridge cultural divides.
Director
I joined the Afghan-American community of Tampa after being invited due to my 10 years of experience in project management, quality assurance, and sales/marketing. I hold an MBA focused on marketing and a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology. I’m grateful to be part of a team that values community and giving back. It’s an honor to contribute my skills to support the Afghan-American community and work towards making a meaningful impact.
